THE 'SECRET BEAUTY OF THE SABBATH'
By Ellen Gould White.

Ezekiel 20:12 (KJV) Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.

The Sabbath is a golden clasp that unites God and His people. It means sanctification through Jesus Christ. It is a sign of obedience. He who keeps it in spirit and in truth reveals that he is on the Lord’s side.

In the Sabbath the Lord calls our thoughts to Him as the Creator, and inspires in us reverence and gratitude for all His works.
The Sabbath bids us behold in His created works the evidence of His love. It brings to us peace, rest, and joy.

The Sabbath is God’s memorial of His creative power, a day of spiritual refreshment, of communion with God and one another. It is a taste of heaven, a shadow of the eternal rest promised to the faithful.

When rightly kept, the Sabbath lifts the soul above earthly cares and draws it nearer to heaven. It is a time to lay aside burdens, to listen to the voice of God, to gather strength for the days ahead. In its sacred hours, God’s presence is especially near.

The Sabbath speaks of deliverance, of grace, and of hope. It reminds us not only of creation but of redemption. It is God’s gift of time—a holy appointment to meet with Him and be renewed.”
